In order to promote indigenous folk and tribal arts and culture and vanishing art forms in the State including training in, and propagation of music, dance and drama, the Department is arranging through its Instructors free coaching to children and willing students in folk dance, song and drama. Apart from giving training in folk dance, song and drama the Department also impart training in Western music through Piano and Guitar. At present we have two Pianos namely the Grand Piano and Upright Piano at our disposal. The students who have completed the course in Western music appear at the examination conducted by the Trinity College, London. The department regularly sponsored artistes to participate in the cultural programme organized by the North Eastern Zone Cultural Centre, Dimapur at various places with a view to promote cultural exchange between Meghalaya and the rest of the country. In this way the message of integrity is conveyed and preached through the performing arts.
